Women and Gender-Diverse People’s Health Section created A Guide to Applying Gender and Diversity Analysis (GDA) in Health for staff in the health sector.
This guide provides information, prompting questions, and examples to support staff in the health sector to make equity considerations in their work. It is designed to support staff in applying Gender and Diversity Analysis (GDA) across the health sector, including those working in program planning, policy development, communications, community engagement, and evaluation. The guide can also be used as a general resource to help consider health equity and the needs of diverse groups.
Using GDA, or other similar policy lenses/tools, helps ensure that potential impacts (positive or negative) on equity-denied and impacted groups are identified. It helps us recognize and mitigate potential barriers, enabling people to access what they need, have a positive experience, and achieve health equity and overall positive health outcomes.
